However fire risk assessment is a legal requirement for each and every public building for example factories, offices & restaurants, this is not required for private homes. Although house fires kills thousands of people worldwide and in the majority of cases these deaths could be avoided with simple precautions. Just give a look:

• In the kitchen - Kitchen is the most common places for house fires because of the intensity of many fire causing equipments for example burners, ovens and other heat & electrical appliances just assembled in one room. Precautions that must be taken include not leaving any appliance unattended, especially if you have small children in your home.

• Electrical equipment -Ask the expert to check your electrical appliances, especially the one’s which comes under category of high voltages and that produces heat. Because there are chances of short circuiting if proper care is not taken in above mentioned types of appliances. Also avoid overloading of sockets

• Naked flames -Kitchen isn’t the only place naked flames. Candles, cigarettes & open fires are also a source of naked flames that can ignite fires. Don’t leave candles unattended and blow them off before leaving the room. Also take care in case of cigarettes as there flame is virtually invisible.
